Buses from Gran Canaria Airport

Intercity buses company Global SU provide transportation throughout the island. The eastern and southern parts of the island are best covered. This coverage is logically given by the meaning of the axis – the capital, the airport, tourist resorts. The most used route for tourists is, of course, the airport – resorts in the south of the island.

The important line is no. 1. The line runs during the day in a pleasant 20-minute interval on the route Las Palmas – Airport – Puerto de Mogán. As other lines run from the airport to Playa del Inglés and Maspalomas, up to approx. 18:00 line runs only the edge of these resorts. However, evening and night connections also go to these resorts.

Airport plan with bus stops.

The night connection of Las Palmas with the airport and the south of the island is provided in addition to line no. 1 and line no. 5. It is actually similar line 1, but ends at Faro Maspalomas. In the joint interval, both lines in the section Las Palmas – Aeropuerto – Faro Maspalomas provide a 30-minute interval almost throughout the night.

During the day it is better to use express connections for transport. The bus stops are located on the upper floor (check-in zone), so it is necessary to go upstairs on arrival.

Some practical information

Travel tickets are bought from the driver, do not look for a ticket machine. You can pay in cash or by credit card. When paying in cash, it is possible to use banknotes with a maximum value of EUR 20. If you plan to use buses to Gran Canaria more often, buy a Bono Guagua card from Global. Depending on the price of the card, you can get a travel discount of up to 40%.

All stops are on the sign. Remember that before arriving at your stop, you must let the driver know that you want to get off.

Timetables are posted at each stop. On Global SU’s website you will only find departures from the final without a minute to the next stops.

When traveling from the airport, you put your suitcase in the bus stop and pick it up from the luggage compartment yourself. The driver will open the luggage compartment from the cab. With some types of buses, you open the luggage compartment yourself. When getting out, be sure to warn the driver to open the luggage compartment.

Drivers usually only speak Spanish. Of course, those who run express lines to the airport are more proficient in the language. If you don’t know which stop to get off at, just tell the driver the name of the hotel. Most of them know hotels and know where the nearest stop is. They even get used to remembering where people want to perform.

Line no. 66 is the most knowing among tourists.
